Network chief Oprah visits “Sweetie Pies”, on OWN — Saturday

Oprah and Gayle visit the empire known as “Sweetie Pie’s,” St. Louis’ iconic and wildly popular soul food restaurant run by Miss Robbie and her dynamic family. With two successful locations, Miss Robbie is upping the ante and preparing to open a third restaurant with the help of her son and business partner, Tim.

UPDATE: Oprah and Gayle did not appear on Saturday’s episode of the show. We regret the error and will keep you informed as to when that episode will telecast.

Iyanla Vanzant’s ‘Fix My Life’ In Primetime On OWN

There wasn’t much detail on this story, just what is sweetly referred to as a “mention“. Still, having the empathetic and wise Iyanla Vanzant return to television seems the good and smart thing to do. From her rise in publishing, to another rise on Oprah and eventual break-up with Harpo Studios. Take a breath and continue. The failure with Barbara Walters and that ill-fated talk mess, losing her home, the rescue by Tavis Smiley with a solid return to the heights of publishing, the two-part reunion on the Oprah Show, and now on OWN we will all bear witness to Iyanla Fix My Life in primetime. Based on what’s gone before, her next chapter should usher in the phoenix’s rise and return.

For Mario Van Peebles, ‘We the Party’ is a Family Affair

I want to be a Van Peebles! That’s how I felt after talking to actor/director/writer Mario Van Peebles (“New Jack City,” “BAADASSSS!”) and his teenaged son Mandela about their new film “We the Party.” The film, written and directed by Mario, son of filmmaking pioneer Melvin Van Peebles (who has a cameo), features all four of Van Peebles’ offspring—Mandela, Makaylo, Morgana, and Maya.

An excerpt from Deepak Chopra’s book “Spiritual Solutions”

What Is a Spiritual Solution?

No one will disagree that life brings challenges, but step back for a moment and ask the deeper question, which is why. Why is life so difficult? No matter what advantages you are born with— money, intelligence, an appealing personality, a sunny outlook, or good social connections— none of these provides a magic key to an easy existence. ~ Deepak Chopra + Video
