If you’ve been watching the new CW drama The LA Complex you know the big surprise at the end of last week’s episode was the aggressive man-on-man kissing by good guy Tariq (Benjamin Charles Watson) and bad boy hip-hopper Kaldrick (Andra Fuller). While the rest of the residents at the LA Complex have been dealing with their own relationship dramas, Tariq, working as a production assistant at a music company, was recently given the daunting task of handling superstar Kaldrick, which was no easy feat due to the star’s arrogance, red hot temper and macho attitude. Who knew that underneath all that hip-hop bravado was a burning-with-desire gay man?

‘Help me,’ Kelly Thomas begs as cops fatally beat him in videotaped incident


A graphic video played at a hearing Monday to determine whether two California police officers should stand trial in the beating death of a homeless man showed them kicking and punching the mentally ill man as he lay on the ground — screaming in pain and begging for help.

The victim, Kelly Thomas, died five days after the beating on July 5.

Bill Maher: If First Black President Only Has One Term, People Would See It As A ‘Failure’


Bill Maher
 invited Arsenio Hall on his show to mostly talk about the 20th anniversary of the Rodney King riots, but the last part of their discussion turned to the presidential election and the all-important race factor in how the Barack Obama-Mitt Romney showdown will come to an end in November. Maher said that if the first black president of the United States ever elected only has one term, “America reads that as a failure,” and the coded message behind it would be that an African-American president “just didn’t work.”

Deion Sanders divorce drama draws to a close


The final day of testimony in the Deion Sanders divorce drama included bombshells and surprises. But it has all come to an end… for now.

Deion left the Collin County Courthouse Monday night with the protective order he had been hoping for.

Judge Jay Wheless gave the Hall of Famer exclusive use of the family’s sprawling Prosper estate. He also must continue to support his three kids, who are ordered to receive counseling, and neither parent can leave with the children for longer than two weeks.

Naomi Schaefer Riley, Chronicle Of Higher Education Blogger, Fired For Calling Black Studies ‘Claptrap’


Nearly 6,500 people signed a petition calling for her dismissal from the blog. Yesterday, Liz McMillen, the site’s editor, wrote a note apologizing for Riley’s post, and said that the publication had decided to part ways with the author, who is also an affiliate scholar of the Institute of American Values, a conservative think tank based in New York.

“When we published Naomi Schaefer Riley’s blog posting on Brainstorm last week … several thousand of you spoke out in outrage and disappointment that The Chronicle had published an article that did not conform to the journalistic standards and civil tone that you expect from us,” McMillen wrote. “We now agree…”
