TJ Holmes Takes To MSNBC To Explain His ‘Driving While Black’ Traffic Stop


[F]ormer CNN anchor TJ Holmes appeared on MSNBC’sThe Ed Show to discuss what he believes are the racial implications of his incident with Atlanta police. It was at around that time that an Occupier had showed up with an “Aryan Brotherhood” sign to “spokescouncil,” which was one of our most controversial decision-making bodies. It was started with promises of greater inclusion, but was in fact attacked for being exclusive, opaque, repressive and oppressive.

The individual had been asked to leave spokescouncil, but many members of the body had continued the meeting and suggested that the sign was just a bad joke, and we needed to move on. Needless to say, this was terribly traumatic for many people of color within the movement. READ MORE

In an age where opinion news reigns supreme and viewers respond in droves to familiar faces with well-known names, many wonder if [Pro. Michael Eric] Dyson and [Rev. Al] Sharpton, with their visible backgrounds in public service, may just be the new African-American faces of prime-time news. Dyson’s clever and often poetic style of delivery when discussing national issues on air seemed to quickly make an impact with the viewing audience.
