Designer Mansion Goes All The Way

For a fashion designer known for spinning copious quantities of gold into her clothes, it’s no surprise that Kimora Lee Simmons’ house has been manhandled by Midas, from the gold lion heads sculpted onto the armchair rungs to the gold Ionic capitals crowning the foyer columns.
And then there’s the gold-leaf-and-carved-jade powder-room toilet owned by only two other people in the world, Simmons says — Oprah and “some king.”
The 10-bedroom mansion in Saddle River, N.J., looks like that monument to Gilded Age opulence, Marble House, one of the Vanderbilts’ Newport, R.I., “cottages,” which itself was inspired by that most royal of residences, Versailles….
